How Cheap Is This Piece Of Junk I Want?

Tonight I have sat through my first ever enjoyable experience at an auction.  The only other time I have been in an auction was at a benefit that was for my older brother, so it wasn't an enjoyable experience for me.  I sat through it tonight and wasn't going to spen any money.  I had a total of $16 dollars on me when I entered it and spent all of it.

Other than the hot dogs and the soft drink, I bought a few boxes full of plates, ashtrays, cups and glasses, a shower curtain, and stuff I don't know what they are.  I don't smoke so I'll be giving away the ashtrays and I can use the shower curtain.  The kitchen stuff I am going to use when I go out to college.  And the other junk in it I couldn't tell you what it is, I am just going to throw those away.  How much did I spend on the two boxes?  I spent a total of $2.

I like Ken Griffey Jr.  I really enjoyed him when he was in Seattle playing for the Mariners.  There was this picture of him that was in a frame and in good condition.  I payed $2.50 for that.

I went to this auction with my best friend and there was this big lamp that he bought for only a dollar.  I asked him what he is going to do with it, he said he doesn't know and so I decided to take it because I have use for it so I gave him a dollar for it.

There was this desk that the auctioneer started at $25.  Nobody betted on it so he said $15, then $10, then $5.  Once he reached $5, I decided to bet on it.  This is a heavy desk that by looking at it, I would guess it being 5 feet wide and a total of 5 drawers.  Nobody took a bet on it so I got this desk that would be worth hundreds at a store.

It was also fun to see the china, the furniture, and other stuff that is interesting that people bought.  I took time guessing at how much an item will sell by.  There was this couch that my friend almost bought that someone pointed out being worth $200 at the furniture store and it was sold for $30.  My friend went up to $25.  It was interesting to see what was still on a table at the end of the night.

If you have never been an auction before, I think you should give it a shot.  I never thought that I would stay that long at one, or even enjoy it.  I found it to be cheaper than a lot of junk on ebay.  It's one where you can find out how cheep a piece of junk really is.

Why Take Away The Love?

If you know anything about the NFL recently, it is that Brett Favre, the legendary quarterback, has retired from the NFL and now is trying to play ball again.  This is a player who has not only missed a single game for the Green Bay Packers in over a decade, he has been the starter for over the decade.

When games were being played at Lambeau Stadium during the month of January, the intimidating factor was the hillbilly wearing #4 on the offense for the opposing team.  I am not a Green Bay Packer fan, but I do have a lot of respect for Favre.  He played through injuries, personal struggles, and even being one of the old guys.

Why is it being so difficult for him to get to do what he has always loved to do?  I have been in a position where I have lost interest in something and then after a while realized that I made a mistake and then get it back.  Brett retired right after the action thinking he could handle it, then over the summer he realized that "This is going to be my life? This sucks."

People can talk about how much of a business that situation is in.  People can talk about what Favre has done to the Packers.  People can talk about what he even did to Aaron Rogers.  All of this talk to me is giving more respect to players like wide receiver Terrel Owens and cornerback Adam Jones.  Since Favre has been a starter to the point where he decides to retire, he has been nothing but respect and been a great representative of the Packers.  T.O. has lost his respects for not only another team other than the Cowboys, but he has lost respects of two other teams.  Adam Jones has been behind bars multiple times.

Favre has been the perfect example of what a person who just wants to play ball is about and so why is it that when he wants to play ball again, he loses his respect?
